CON House
CON House
Full renovation of a late 19th-century townhouse, carefully restored and upgraded to meet contemporary standards of living. The project involved the transformation of approximately 320 m² of interior space across four levels, together with an 80 m² garden, balancing preservation, technical renewal, and spatial improvement.
The intervention included the restoration of original architectural features such as ornamental ceilings and fireplaces, the replacement of outdated installations, the introduction of new flooring throughout, and the complete modernization of the house’s electrical, plumbing, and control systems. A key spatial move was the reconfiguration of the former kitchen area to create a more open and connected living environment, paired with a custom stainless steel kitchen designed to bring clarity and durability to the heart of the home.
Beyond design, the project also involved full coordination of the renovation process, from early planning and technical drawings to contractor management, cost control, permits, and utility arrangements. Conradkade reflects Re-Novation’s approach: combining architectural sensitivity with precise project coordination to deliver thoughtful, high-quality transformations of existing buildings.
Canal House
Renovation project shaped by the character, proportions, and atmosphere of the historic canal house. The intervention focused on enhancing the quality of the interior while respecting the architectural identity of the existing structure, balancing contemporary living requirements with the spatial dignity of the original building.
The project was approached with particular attention to light, materiality, and the relationship between old and new. Rather than imposing contrast for its own sake, the design aimed to clarify the space, improve functionality, and reinforce the calm elegance inherent to the house. Carefully considered interventions helped adapt the property to present-day use while preserving the sense of continuity that gives canal houses their enduring value.
The project reflects Re-Novation’s broader approach to renovation in the Netherlands: a combination of architectural sensitivity, technical coordination, and strategic decision-making. The result is a home that feels both renewed and rooted in place, where contemporary comfort is achieved without losing the cultural and spatial qualities that define Amsterdam’s historic fabric.
CEN Apartment
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, Central Apartment is the transformation of a former attic space into a compact and highly efficient home defined by light, warmth, and spatial intelligence. Set beneath the sloped roof of a historic building, the project reimagines the top floor as a clear and comfortable living environment, making full use of the apartment’s unique geometry and vertical potential.
Although the total footprint measures approximately 70 m², the constraints of the roofline reduced the directly usable area considerably. The design response focused on maximizing comfort and functionality through careful planning, custom storage, and the strategic placement of low kitchen cabinetry beneath the lowest section of the slope. A new mezzanine was introduced using the existing structural beams, adding valuable additional area while preserving openness and visual continuity throughout the apartment.
Material choices were kept warm and restrained, with oak, plastered walls, and wood finishes contributing to a calm and minimal interior atmosphere. New double-glazed windows improved comfort and performance, while the layout also incorporated space for a home office, responding to contemporary patterns of living. Central Apartment reflects Re-Novation’s approach to small-space renovation: precise, design-led interventions that unlock the full value of existing spaces without excess.
